Icon TV has introduced the F152WIR 15.2-inch Overhead Car Monitor (MSRP: $1999.99). Panasonic is introducing two new in-dash systems that create an exciting world of multimedia entertainment in a car. The innovative CQ-VAD9200U and CQ-VAD7200U each feature an in-dash DVD player, a seven-inch, 16:9 widescreen color LCD monitor, TV tuner and antenna, and radio tuner. These all-inclusive units also play back CDs, and MP3 files on CD-R and CD-RW discs. Both models feature 45 watt x 4 channel amps; the CQ-VAD9200U adds a 35-watt amp for center speaker surround sound, plus built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoders.

39. Rockford Fosgate Launches Next Generation of Source Units for 2003

Rockford Fosgate, has made its award-winning source unit line even better for 2003. This year's predecessors are Innovations Design and Engineering Awards winners two years running. Rockford Fosgate's 2003 source units are single DIN AM/FM/CD/ in-dash mobile audio source units with built-in amplification (excluding the 9420) with three pairs of RCA outputs, and are scheduled for availability in January 2003. Four of the five new models are MP3-capable via CD-R or CD-RW and, in addition, Rockford Fosgate will offer the RAV DVD1, a single-DIN chassis AM/FM \ DVD\MP3\VCD\ CD\CD-R compatible source unit, with built in Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS decoders, as well as a built in center channel amplifier for 2003.

JBL and Crown International, one of the world's leading manufacturers of commercial and live-concert amplification, add a new chapter to car audio history with the introduction of the A6000GTi. Using patented technology created by the companies' joint venture, JBL reports the "JBL Powered by Crown" A6000GTi amplifier is capable of producing 10,000 watts of peak power and 6000 watts RMS. The A6000GTi, which is a two-channel-subwoofer amplifier, offers the highest power output of any car audio amplifier available, combined with damping nearly 40 times higher and distortion significantly lower than that of conventional Class D subwoofer amplifiers.

Kenwood has introduced its first mobile tuner for HD Radio, the new form of digitally-broadcast AM and FM radio, and also announced that 17 of 23 new 2003 models of Kenwood Excelon and Kenwood CD receivers are "HD Radio ready," offering 'plug 'n play' compatibility with the digital tuner. HD Radio, developed by iBiquity, enables AM and FM radio broadcasters to transmit programs digitally while continuing to send conventional analog signals to existing AM and FM radios. The digital signals offer improved audio quality and enable broadcasters to offer a wide range new services.
