Event
Brings Together Top Association Support Including MPEG,

AICE, CEDIA, AICP and ETC.
LOS
ANGELES, April 23, 2003 -- The Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) and United
Entertainment Media (UEM) -- publisher of Videography, Digital Cinema
and Systems Contractor News magazines -- today jointly announced broad,
cross-industry association support for the displayLA
Conference and Technology
Showcase.
The
first Los Angeles-based event exclusively devoted to introducing
the latest display technologies to the creative
production community,
displayLA will be held July 17-18, 2003 at the Beverly
Hilton Hotel
in Beverly Hills. In addition to HPA itself, the event
is sponsored
by the Motion Pictures Editors Guild (MPEG), the
International Communications
Industries (ICIA), the Producers Guild of America
(PGA), Association
of Independent Creative Editors (AICE), the Custom
Electronic Design
& Installation Association (CEDIA), the Association
of Independent
Commercial Producers Inc. (AICP). In addition, the Entertainment
Technology Centers (ETC) Digital Cinema Lab in
Hollywood has
been announced as the site of the displayLA's screening
event.
"This
alliance of associations and Hollywood leaders represents the
intellectual
core of the display and production industries today," notes Martin
Porter, Senior Vice President/Publishing Director of United
Entertainment
Media. "The fact that they are jointly participating in displayLA
elevates the event, in its inaugural year, to the definitive showcase
and conference of its kind."
"This
significant industry support for displayLA is testament
to the interest
in this important topic.," says Leon Silverman, president of
the Hollywood Post Alliance. "displayLA is quickly becoming
a forum that will help to initiate a vital dialog in our industry
regarding how display technologies impact and enhance
the creative
process as well as how new display technologies might play a role
in future cinema distribution."
The
two-day event will feature all the latest display/projector
technologies
-- including LCD, LED, plasma, DLP, digital cinema and HD --
plus discussions
and demonstrations of the latest advancements in screening room design,
on-location video, digital dailies and even advanced home
theater presentations.
In addition to the technology conference directed and developed by HPA,
the showcase will also provide technology demonstrations by
leading manufacturers
in adjacent demo rooms and exhibition suites. The combination
will provide
an extremely high-level, one-on-one opportunity to creatives
to view the
latest technologies and for technology companies to gain input from the
world's most discriminating viewers.
